The Green Bay Packers have been the closest team to achieving an undefeated regular season, and that was back in 2011.
Green Bay was 15-1 that season and they lost their only game against the Kansas City Chiefs on the road, and they weren’t even a playoff team that season. That loss came as a surprise to a very large number of people. The Packers lost to the New York Giants in the NFC Divisional Round that season and New York eventually won Super Bowl XLVI against the New England Patriots.
For the 2022 regular season, there are a couple of teams that could achieve a 17-0 regular season. They are the Los Angeles Rams and the Buffalo Bills, but they both face each other on the opening night of the NFL regular season, which is scheduled for Thursday, September 8th.
Los Angeles is capable of doing it because the NFC is not as strong as the AFC is. Matthew Stafford is one of the most talented quarterbacks in the NFL. Sean McVay is also one of the best head coaches in the NFL, especially when having a lead.
Buffalo is capable of doing it because Josh Allen is the betting favorite to win the 2022 NFL MVP Award, and some think he might be the best quarterback in the NFL. Sean McDermott is also a great head coach. More realistically, fade the yes bet.
