Best Core Exercises to Tone Your Stomach

79% of Americans are unhappy with how their body looks. If you’re one of them, then you probably want to take action to change that!

One area that many people hate is their stomachs. Not only can it be a huge gut, but even with weight loss, it can be quite flabby.

Wondering how to get that beach body you’ve always wanted? Here are some core exercises you should try to get a more toned stomach!

Planks

This is a very easy exercise that you can do without equipment. However, just because it’s easy doesn’t mean it’ll feel like it!

To do a plank, lie down on your stomach. Then, prop your entire body up in a straight line by crooking your elbows in a 90-degree fashion. Make sure your elbows are about shoulder-width apart.

Now hold yourself up for as long as you can. Squeeze all the muscles you can, not just the ones in your stomach. Planks can also work out your legs, arms, and back, so take advantage of them for strengthening your core!

Side Bends

For this exercise, you’ll need a dumbbell.

Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and hold the dumbbell in your right hand. Slowly lean to the right, with your back straight the entire time. Once you get as far as you can, hold for 5 seconds and then slowly return to your starting position.

After repeating this up to 20 times, switch to the other side. Also, make sure you’re not using a dumbbell that’s too heavy. You don’t want to pull any muscles!

Sandbag Situps

You know how to do situps, right? Now let’s kick it up a notch by adding a sandbag!

The goal is to work your core correctly, which can be done by making a V shape with your body and thighs when you sit up. Make sure you do your situps in slow and smooth movements to avoid injury.

Bear Crawls

Get in a position like you’re about to do a pushup. Your knees should be at a 90-degree angle, right under your hips.

Now tense up your core and start crawling forward by moving your right hand and left foot. Stop and go backward.

You should then switch to your left hand and right foot. Repeat the crawling forward and backward.

Don’t Forget to Eat Healthy

To get a toned stomach, you might have to try losing weight first. The less fat you have, the easier it’ll be to make your stomach look toned.

Part of losing weight is eating better. Avoiding foods that make you bloat can also help you get that look you’ve always wanted. So work with someone like this gut health specialist for a healthier you!
